Sensitive Skin
Do you dread trying to find a cosmetic because you know that the chances are that will cause your skin to burn and red? You have a bathroom cupboard full of creams and lotions that you used only once or twice because they reacted badly with your face? So you’ve got sensitive skin, which is probably the most frustrating to have the skin type. So how can you handle it?
The main problems with sensitive skin are redness, burning, tightness, dryness and irritation. This type of skin can also be prone to dermatitis, eczema or acne. The first approach would be to find out if an allergy is causing the problem.
A dermatologist can perform a test patch to see if you are susceptible to one of the most common allergens. It can be an ingredient in a cosmetic, it can even be a food allergy or food intolerance. If allergy is ruled out, the problem is genetic and there are still several things that can be done to improve the situation.
When you buy a cosmetically always look for “hypoallergenic” on the label. This means that not ensure that won’t reply to your skin, but it does mean that some or most common allergens are omitted from the product, such as sulphates, perfumes and some colors, see the label if you are unsure.
Preservatives used to increase the shelf life of a product can be some of the main irritants. Put a little bit on a small patch of skin before spreading all over your face.
Try to find products with fewer ingredients, more ingredients of a product, the more likely your skin will find it doesn’t like it! Avoid perfumes in anything you put on your face, it is an unnecessary ingredient and included only to make the product commercially unacceptable.
Don’t use exfoliants on sensitive skin, even the gentlest ones are still too harsh, ditto with harsh soaps. Forget toners and astringents that contain alcohol, they are too drying. Try cleansing only at night with perhaps a splash of warm water in the mornings, over-cleansing can irritate sensitive skins. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Healthier Skin Naturally in One Week or Less
Natural SkinMany people think that drastic measures are required in order to have flawless, youthful skin. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s possible to have better looking skin starting with things you already have in your home; no cosmetic surgery or expensive makeup required!
Healthy skin is moist and produces adequate amounts of oil from the sebaceous glands, producing a natural “glow.” Plump skin cells fit together like a carefully constructed mosaic, where each one has its own place. When skin cells dry out, however, they begin to lift and separate at an angle, giving skin a dull, flaky look that makes the skin appear older.
The two main causes for dry skin are environmental factors (weather, chemicals, the use of the wrong personal care products) and poor diet. In order to look great on the outside, you must first treat yourself right from within. A regular balanced diet is the number one defense against wrinkles, outbreaks and dry skin conditions. However, certain foods have properties that are most important for that glow that we crave. Here we’ll talk a bit about some of these foods, and you’ll see how quickly you can achieve radiant skin without breaking the bank. Read the rest of this entry »

Recent research into the purification of Hyaluronic acid (HA) from the vitreous humor of fish has shown great promise. This method is highly efficient and easier than derivation from rooster combs and other traditional sources of HA.
Specifically, scientists have pinpointed a way to derive highly pure Hyaluronic acid from the vitreous humor of fish. This method has the potential to be extremely important for the commercial Hyaluronic acid market as it provides an easy, safe and economical way to synthesize high amounts of Hyaluronic acid. If patent approved, the process could make Hyaluronic acid products even more readily available and could help scientists in the search for uses of Hyaluronic acid other than Hyaluronic acid injections, supplements, beauty products, liquids and serums. Healthy skin happens when we eats good foods, have enough exercise, minimize stress and protect our skin from the harsh environment.

Healthy Natural Skin
Certain foods are especially beneficial to the skin. Garlic is one such food. It contains sulphur compounds (which give it its rather strong odor) which are beneficial to your skin. It also acts as a natural antibiotic and cleanses the whole system. If you like garlic, eat it as much as you can. If the smell worries you, chew a piece of parsley afterwards and this will neutralize it. Odorless garlic tablets are available if this is all too hard.
Vitamin C is probably the most important skin vitamin in my opinion. Not least because the human body can neither make it or store it. This vitamin helps collagen formation which keeps the skin looking young and plump. This could be why smoker’s skin can look older than a non smoker’s. Smoking also uses up the oxygen in the blood. Give it up if humanly possible or at least cut it down.
Vitamin C is best consumed together with bioflavonoids, the way it is normally found in nature. The two have a synergistic effect. They can be found in Citrus fruit, berries such as strawberries and blueberries and vegetables such as broccoli.
Broccoli also contain vitamin A, an important vitamin for skin as it helps it fight infection from the inside out. Great for those with acne! Have some every other day if you can.
Carrots are a great source of carotenoids such as “beta-carotene” which your body converts to vitamin A . Beta-carotene is absorbed into the skin and can also protect it from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Carrots also contain “alpha carotene” which protects against free radical damage. Carrots are a great way to get your vitamin A as excess carotenoids are expelled by the body. Too much vitamin A is toxic to the body. Read the rest of this entry »
